Job Opening - Groundskeeper (Part-Time)

Responsibilities:
Primary function: The Groundskeeper will work to present safe, clean, well-maintained, and welcoming grounds and church building exterior. Work hours must be coordinated around building events.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • General care of grounds, with frequency depending on seasons and weather. “Notice needs and take action.”
  • Cut grass, weed whacking where needed.
  • Trim trees and plants, clear weeds around plants, add bark as needed.
  • Rake leaves and clear grounds of debris.
  • Keep patio, walkways, and lower area clean; clear parking lot with blower as needed.
  • Pick up litter on church grounds, parking lot, and forest walk.
  • Communicate with Church Manager about building schedule, working hours, and work needs.
  • Special projects as requested

Qualifications:
  • Prior grounds and maintenance experience highly desired.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to run electrical equipment; read/follow owner’s manuals; use chemicals safely.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Desire and ability to work efficiently and independently.
  • Commitment to excellent attendance.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, reach,  stoop, use hands and remain standing for extended periods of time
  • The employee frequently is required to talk and hear
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Position requires flexibility in scheduling
